DIRECTOR OF LEGAL SERVICES
We are currently seeking a dynamic, self-starting attorney who has vision, initiative, and a demonstrated commitment to public interest law as their Director of Legal Services. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the program’s Leadership Team. The Director of Legal Services will direct her or his own case load while also supervising the work of attorneys, advocates and administrative staff in both the Oklahoma City and Tulsa offices. The successful candidate may choose to office out of either Oklahoma City or Tulsa.
In addition to providing representation in civil legal matters, this position involves a rare opportunity to spearhead exciting strategic advocacy, including principled litigation aimed at large-scale change to benefit people with disabilities in the state of Oklahoma and to oversee the design and implementation of a strategic plan for outreach to under-served areas and populations.
Job requirements include: Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma or eligible for immediate admission to the Oklahoma bar by reciprocity; 5 to 10 years legal experience, including extensive state and or federal litigation experience; zealous commitment to use the legal system to enforce the rights of people with disabilities is essential; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to think and plan strategically and to demonstrate and promote a positive work ethic and work environment; proven management and leadership skills, excellent skills in mentoring and training; the ability to develop and implement projects; and a readiness to have a flexible work schedule.
Staff Attorney. Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited law school and member of the Oklahoma Bar Association or exam pending. Experience in public interest law and/or issues related to age or disability preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be detailed oriented, well organized, and have the ability to handle multiple priorities. Must have the ability to travel overnights, valid driver’s license/insurance and availability of a dependable automobile. A commitment to use the legal system to enforce the rights of people with disabilities is essential. The successful candidate may work out of either the Oklahoma City or Tulsa office. EEOC employer. INSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS ADVOCATE
Candidates must have three to five years’ experience in either investigation, case management or client advocacy. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detailed oriented and well organized. Must have the ability to negotiate on behalf of clients, collaborate, communicate, confront and mediate various situations as needed. Must have the ability to travel overnights on a regular basis, valid driver’s license/insurance and availability of a dependable automobile.
